Congressman Lee Zeldin Returns from Holidays Overseas with Deployed Troops
One local elected official spent his holiday season far from home bringing cheer to those deployed overseas.
For the second year in a row, Congressman Lee Zeldin, who serves as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has spent the holiday season traveling with a bipartisan Congressional Delegation to the Middle East, including Afghanistan, visiting deployed service members far from their families.
“It is an honor to visit our troops deployed overseas in the Middle East during the holiday season. Throughout this trip, I have had the privilege to thank many of our heroes, several from New York, risking their lives away from their families in defense of our freedoms and liberties," Zeldin said.
"My meetings with top military and diplomatic leadership front and center in the fight against ISIS, Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups are also a critical component of this timely visit to the Middle East," he added.
Also participating in the bipartisan CODEL are Congressman Mike Coffman, Congressman David Valadao, and Congressman David Cicilline, a release said.
