Rep. Lee Zeldin is inviting constituents to a “community forum” in Riverhead on Sunday afternoon on the eastern campus of Suffolk County Community College.

The forum, a Q&A with the congressman, will be moderated by Suffolk County Comptroller John Kennedy, Zeldin’s communications director Jennifer DiSiena said. Kennedy will read questions submitted by the audience, she said.

“Space is limited to the maximum capacity of the lecture hall. A driver’s license or other proof of NY-1 residency is required,” the Zeldin announcement said.

The forum will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Shinnecock Building, Lecture Hall 101. The Suffolk County Community College eastern campus is located at 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead.

Zeldin has announced two additional community forums on Sunday: one at the Portuguese American Center of Farmingville, 1216 Portion Road, Farmingville from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. and one at St. Patrick’s Church, 280 E. Main St., Smithtown at 7 p.m.

Some residents of the First Congressional District, upset with the Trump administration and some of the positions the congressman has taken, have demanded that Zeldin hold a “town hall” meeting in the district to answer constituents questions and hear their concerns. Zeldin has resisted their demands and has said he did not believe a town hall meeting would be productive. In February, he held a “telephone town hall” — where residents were able to call into a conference line. More than 9,000 people joined the call, Zeldin’s spokesperson said afterward.

The congressman and his staff have held mobile office hours around the district, most recently today at the Peconic Lane Community Center in Peconic.
