Press Release

WASHINGTON - This week, the House of Representatives unanimously passed the VA VACCINE Act (H.R. 1276) to provide COVID-19 vaccines to all veterans and their caregivers, including veterans who are not currently enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) healthcare system, veterans without compensable service-connected disabilities and veterans who have incomes above a certain threshold as well as caregivers who are enrolled in various VA home-based and long-term care programs.

After House passage, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), a cosponsor of this legislation, issued the following statement:

“Our nation’s veterans have earned nothing but the highest quality care, and ensuring they have access to the coronavirus vaccine is the least we could do for their service to our nation. The Senate must act immediately to pass this legislation so all of Long Island’s veterans and those who care for them can receive the vaccine right at their local VA.”
