Congressman Lee Zeldin Sends Letter to NYMTC Requesting They Reconsider and Abandon Their Cross Sound Enhancement Project

March 18, 2015
Press Release

Washington, DC – On Wednesday, March 8, 2015, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, C - NY-1), sent a letter to Mr. Howie Mann from the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) requesting the Cross Sound Enhancement Project be removed as a part of the NYMTC Regional Freight Plan and stating his concerns with the ill-advised plan to move 3,000 trucks from I-95 in Connecticut to the North Fork of Long Island, NY. Congressman Zeldin strongly believes that the North Fork of Long Island is not equipped to handle that proposed truck traffic.
