PSEG Changes Reimbursement Policy Following Urging from Rep. Zeldin and Others
PATCHOGUE, NY - Today, PSEG Long Island announced it is expanding its claims policy due to the COVID-19 pandemic so that customers whose electrical service was interrupted by Tropical Storm Isaias for at least 72 hours can be reimbursed for spoiled food and medication.
Last week, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) demanded PSEG follow the lead of other regional energy companies that service the Tri-State area to cover the costs of spoiled food and medication for customers who experienced extended power outages in the wake of Tropical Storm Isaias.
Furthermore, Congressman Zeldin and members of the Long Island Congressional Delegation called for an investigation into the PSEG response, an investigation which has now been launched.
“Thankfully, PSEG has done the right thing, listened to its customers and expanded its claims policy for those who experienced prolonged power outages following Tropical Storm Isaias,” said Congressman Zeldin. “I hope that this announcement signifies PSEG’s willingness to make the changes desperately needed to learn from Tropical Storm Isaias and better serve Long Islanders.”
