Rep. Zeldin Meets with North Fork Farmers, Receives Friends of Farm Bureau Award from American Farm Bureau
PECONIC, NY - On Thursday, October 15, 2020, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) met with local farmers, oyster growers, viniculturalists and others to discuss federal assistance during the outbreak of coronavirus, additional support needed from all levels of government and how we can help local farmers quickly and safely get back to business.
Last week, Rep. Zeldin was awarded the Friend of the Farm Bureau Award from the American Farm Bureau.
“It's an honor to receive the Friend of the Farm Bureau Award from the American Farm Bureau,” said Congressman Zeldin. “Long Island's farmers play a critical role in our communities, working hard to ensure our supermarkets are stocked during the outbreak of coronavirus and preserving our area's agricultural and aquacultural heritage. Our local farmers’ continued commitment to our communities is vital to preserving our way of life.”
Paul Schlegel of the American Farm Bureau said, “The American Farm Bureau Federation gives the Friend of Farm Bureau award to members of Congress who have supported Farm Bureau’s position on policy issues, as demonstrated by their voting records, and who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureaus and approved by the AFBF Board of Directors.”
