Rep. Zeldin Reiterates Opposition to Drilling off Long Island

WASHINGTON - Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of the Interior proposed opening 90% of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) to energy exploration, including parts of the Atlantic Ocean:

“I support an energy strategy that secures American energy independence and drives down costs. On Long Island, however, our waterways are our way of life, and drilling off of Long Island is unacceptable and counterproductive to the well-being of our communities.”
