Rep. Zeldin Statement on May Jobs Report
June 5, 2020
Press Release
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), member of the House Financial Services Committee, issued the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the U.S. economy added 2.5 million jobs in the month of May with the unemployment rate declining to 13.3%:
“This stunning jobs report, bucking prior estimates of 7.5 million jobs lost and a nearly 20% unemployment rate, is excellent news for our nation’s economic recovery and hardworking Americans across our country. This is a much faster and stronger than predicted economic reversal in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, and, as we work to quickly and safely reopen our economy, hopefully our resilient workforce will rebound stronger than ever.”
