Rep. Zeldin Statement On Passing of NYPD Detective and NY-1 Resident Brian Simonsen

PATCHOGUE, NY - Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) issued the following statement after New York Police Department (NYPD) Detective Brian Simonsen of Calverton, New York, passed away last night after being shot in the line of duty, while responding to a burglary:

“The passing of NYPD Detective and NY-1 resident Brian Simonsen is a tragic reminder of the dangers our local law enforcement officers face each and every day, their commitment to putting the safety of our communities above their own and the sacrifice of their families and loved ones. Detective Simonsen dedicated his life to protecting ours, and we are forever indebted to his service and the heroic actions of all our men and women in blue.”
