Rep. Zeldin Statement in Support of Cuban Protests Against Socialist Oppression

July 12, 2021
Press Release

PATCHOGUE, NY - Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement in support of widespread protests by the Cuban people against shortages of food and key medical resources, caused by the country’s socialist regime:

“The people of Cuba have long been suffering from dire shortages of food and medicine, skyrocketing prices for consumer goods, a lack of economic opportunity, and decaying housing conditions, thanks to the socialist dictatorship that has, for generations, inflicted pain, suffering and unbearable living conditions on its citizens. The Cuban people have had enough! They deserve liberation from the socialist oppression and state-run failures they've endured for far too long. These protests show that Cubans will no longer accept a government that suppresses and undermines the people it is supposed to represent.”
