Dear Executive Director Landau,
On April 17, 2019, a shocking event was held at the Muslim American Society (MAS) Islamic Center in Philadelphia to celebrate “Ummah Day,” where a group of children in Palestinian scarves sang radical Islamic group anthems. This event captured children lip syncing in Arabic about beheadings in the name of Islam with lyrics like, “We will chop off their heads… We will lead the army of Allah fulfilling His promise, we will subject them to eternal torture.” Additionally, the anthem called for the elimination of Israel with lyrics promoting jihad such as, “We will defend the land of divine guidance with our bodies” and “sacrifice our souls without hesitation.” Following the publication of this video on MAS’ Philadelphia Facebook page, the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations publicly stated that it was launching an investigation into the MAS Philadelphia chapter. We write requesting an update on the findings of such investigation and whether it warrants additional scrutiny by the Department of Justice.
MAS was founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in America, with several senior Members of the Muslim Brotherhood designated as terrorists. After the event was publicized, MAS issued a statement claiming it was a separate entity that had rented space in the building and was responsible for the programming. However, old Facebook posts indicate that a similar entity called MAS Leaders Academy operates at the same location. MAS also shares space with the Al-Hidaya mosque. With over 50 chapters throughout the U.S., it is critical that a thorough investigation is completed detailing how this event occurred, who was responsible for the programming and MAS’ origins.
This video exposed the indoctrination of young children promoting radical Islamic ideology in the United States. That is why we ask for additional information, including the results of your investigation.
