Governor Hochul’s mandate requiring healthcare workers to receive at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or forfeit their jobs, unless they have a medical exemption or previously applied for a religious one, recently went into effect.

The proposed Riverhead Town Square in the center of Main Street will result in increased pedestrian traffic and will be a driving force for further revitalization in Downtown Riverhead. An infusion of federal RAISE grant funds to create a public square to provide scenic riverfront vistas and a public gathering space will catalyze and incentivize this redevelopment.

Southwest is talking out of both sides of its mouth. One minute, the CEO says he has no right to mandate vaccination, and the next, he’s imposing a mandate that’s even more restrictive than the one from the federal government that he says is forcing his hand and has yet to even be issued by OSHA. Neither the government nor private companies should be playing doctor or interfering with the personal medical decisions of individuals with regards to the COVID vaccine. The Biden Administration, governors and state officials across the nation need to take note of the chaos that vaccine mandates have caused from staffing shortages forcing the postponement of elective procedures at certain hospitals to other negative impacts on the lives of Americans. It doesn’t have to be this way. There are PPE, improved testing options and other mitigation measures in place that can effectively keep employees safe without forcing them out of their jobs. As President Biden said in December 2020, "No, I don’t think it should be mandatory. I wouldn’t demand it be mandatory."

From the planning to the execution, the Biden Administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was an abject failure. The American people can see through the Biden Administration’s ‘extraordinary success’ claims and they deserve a thorough investigation that delivers truthful answers about this failed withdrawal.

President Biden and his administration’s feckless leadership, statements and policies have created a massive, full blown crisis at our southern border that continues to spiral out of control. We’ve now seen six straight months of more than 170,000 border apprehensions, and there have been more than 1.2 million border apprehensions since Biden took office. That number is higher than any single year since at least 2006. The Biden Administration is now revoking one the most effective remaining policies for keeping illegal immigrants out of the United States even after the Department of Homeland Security warned of the possibility of as many as 400,000 illegal border apprehensions in October alone. Real leaders tackle problems head on, not deliberately seek opportunities to make it worse to pander to far-left activists.

Considering the science and data, vaccines widely available for educators and other staff, treatment and testing options continuing to get even better, and other mitigation measures still in effect, New York State should absolutely not require the COVID vaccine for New York's schoolchildren. In the words of President Biden in December 2020, "No, I don’t think it should be mandatory. I wouldn’t demand it be mandatory."

Despite many promises of Serbian officials to solve the case of this state sponsored murder, there has been no justice served. This resolution notes that the progress with this investigation should remain a significant factor in determining the further development of U.S.-Serbian relations. We must deliver justice for the Bytyqi family. I urge support for this resolution.

Our healthcare workers were nothing short of heroic the past 18 months. Regardless of the uncertainty, lack of PPE and other essential resources at times, gruelingly long hours and pain, suffering, and death around them, they rose to the challenge over and over again. They helped us navigate some of the pandemic’s darkest days and saved lives. We shouldn’t be firing these essential workers. We should be thanking them for all they’ve done for our communities.
